With ten years experience working on large sailing yachts, from 25
to 40m (private and charter) including seasons on both sides of the
Atlantic, not only is Mark a very capable sailor, he has developed his
skills to become an expert manager of people and time.
He has extensive refit experience in yards in France, Spain, Italy,
Greece and Turkey, the UK, USA and the Caribbean. Before joining
THL he successfully completed a 3 year spell as 1st Mate aboard
S/Y Anakena, a 132’ Royal Huisman Ketch, a period which included
cruising in the Indian Ocean, Red Sea, Black Sea and Mediterranean.
During his time on Anakena he supervised two substantial refits, the
second of which involved completely stripping and rebuilding both rigs,
replacement of the teak deck, removal of the engines and generators
and a complete respray of the hull superstructure and rigs.
Mark holds the RYA Yachtmaster offshore, RYA Yachtmaster ocean
theory and STCW basic training.
Mark says “Since having decided to stop crewing aboard yachts
and base myself in the UK, I am hoping to use my experience and
knowledge of sailing and the yachting industry will help in my new
career with THL and bring a different dimension to the company. Being
based in Falmouth will hopefully give me a chance to take part in more
racing and sailing for enjoyment, although I still intend to sail for THL on
superyachts too”.
